When I’m 64

Maybe you already know this song so well, or maybe you don’t know it until you play the video above. Apparently, The Beatles which  a pioneer rock ‘n’ roll band  can sing and play jazz too. Paul mc Cartney can write a jazz song too. And they sang it so well.

The sound of clarinet confirms  the accent of jazz further, beside its rhythmic and the sound of hihat in the background. Once I heard this song when I was a kid, I directly like this song. Even in that time I still didn’t know about jazz and didn’t like jazz. I don’t know, maybe because the  swing of the song sounds good to me. Like an old saying “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing”.

This song is included in the album “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. This song tells about a husband and wife who love each other and about their fantasy  when they grow old. The husband in this song asked if his wife still loved him when he grew old. A very romantic song.

When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?

If I’d been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I’m sixty-four?

You’ll be older too,
And if you say the word,
I could stay with you.

I could be handy mending a fuse
When your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride.

Doing the garden, digging the weeds,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I’m sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage
In the Isle of Wight, if it’s not too drear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I’m sixty-four?

Well, after you read and listen to this song, will you send me a valentine or just leave me a comment ? It’s almost Valentine day you know or do you forget about it ?
