This is another song of The Beatles which sounds like a traditional Indian song. The lyrics is very unique and maybe very spiritual beside ironic. I read about this song in Wikipedia. It said that the lyrics are a rendering of the 47th chapter ( sometimes titled “Viewing the Distant” in translations ) of the Taoist Tao Te Ching.
I don’t know exactly what does it mean by “Viewing the Distant”. But if it means “Viewing from the Distance”, I can see the importance of it. Because it can give us an objective and wide view of a situation.
A famous writer Phyllis Theroux ever said an ironic sentence about travelling without phisically moving our body “To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart”.
In comparison with this, in the bible there’s also a verse which contains an ironic situation like this situation says “believing without seeing”.
In business, believing without seeing is used especially in online transaction. We believe with the quality of what we’re gonna buy without seeing it and touching it physically. It’s contrary with business in old-fashioned way, we must see and maybe touch the good we’re gonna buy before we buy it.
John 20:29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Jesus said it to his disciple, Thomas who was a doubter and not easy to believe. Before that Thomas said that he wouldn’t believe that Jesus had risen from his dead before he saw the mark of the nails in his hands, and put his finger in the mark of the nails and his hand in his stomach.
The Christians say that faith is the proof of what unseen. They believe who dies in Jesus will be risen in Jesus as well.
