Seruling sakti

Beberapa tahun yang lalu di sebuah stasiun televisi swasta di Indonesia pernah disiarkan sebuah acara yang sangat populer dimana salah seorang lakonnya sangat terkenal dengan “suling sakti”nya. Tentu saja acara ini sangat banyak pemirsanya. Padahal sang lakon tersebut tidak benar-benar bermain seruling, tapi cuma bergaya seperti orang yang sedang main seruling alias main seruling bo’ong-bo’ongan sambil berjoget. Sedangkan suara seruling ( kalau ada ) tentu saja berasal dari pemain seruling yang tidak kelihatan di layar televisi.  Dan acara ini berakhir dengan cukup menyedihkan bagi para pemirsanya dengan dihentikan oleh KPI. Sang lakon sesudah itu juga tidak pernah terdengar lagi kabarnya.

Tapi acara tersebut bukannya  dihentikan gara-gara sang lakon yang bermain seruling pura-pura,  melainkan karena sebab lain. Padahal acara tersebut cukup merakyat dan musiknya pun juga musik rakyat yaitu dangdut yang identik dengan seruling. Berbeda dengan para pemain seruling sungguhan seperti yang dibawah ini , karena mereka memang betul-betul pemain seruling yang jempolan. Jadi bukan asal bergaya saja.

Dimulai dari jaman musik klasik, seruling sudah merupakan salah satu primadona instrumen musik klasik. Salah satu pemain seruling klasik adalah Jean Pierre Rampal.

Tidak hanya pada era musik klasik saja seruling menjadi salah satu primadona. Tapi juga pada era musik jazz, banyak dikenal pemain seruling yang handal seperti Bud Shank, Hubert Laws, Herbie Mann, Dave Valentin, Alexander Zonjic, Jorge Dalto dan lain-lain.

Dua video dibawah memperlihatkan kepiawaian Dave Valentin dan Alexander Zonjic yang keduanya merupakan pemain flute jazz. Tapi kebetulan keduanya juga kadang memainkan musik klasik.

Bahkan ketika memasuki era yang lebih modern lagi yaitu rock, ada juga pemain seruling yang handal dan terkenal yaitu Ian Anderson. Ia juga merupakan vokalis dari group band Jethro Tull yang beraliran folk rock yang dicampur dengan progressive dan hard rock. Tapi kebetulan juga ia kadang-kadang memainkan lagu klasik.

 

Bagaimana dengan di Indonesia ? Bagaimana dengan peta musik di tanah air kita ? Di Indonesia banyak sekali pemain seruling dan sudah barang tentu mereka tidak kalah handal  bila dibandingkan dengan para pemain seruling dari luar negeri.  Cuma sayang nama mereka kurang terkenal bila dibandingkan dengan para penyanyi maupun para instrumentalis alat musik lain.

Susi vs Suzi

Pada pelantikan menteri Kabinet Kerja Jokowi tanggal 27 Oktober lalu tampak ada beberapa hal yang menonjol. Ada 8 orang menteri wanita. Ada seorang guru besar perempuan pertama dari Papua yang bernama Yohana Susana Yembise. Tapi selain itu disaat para menteri wanita yang lain memakai baju batik dan  celana panjang atau rok panjang, ternyata ada juga  seorang menteri yang memakai kebaya dan kain jarik serta memakai sanggul. Ia memakai kaca mata warna gelap pula. Dia adalah Susi Pudjiastuti. Menteri kelautan dan perikanan kita.

Tak ayal sehabis pelantikan itu, media pun segera menyoroti penampilan dan dandanannya. Tidak berhenti sampai disitu saja, tapi media juga mengulas kembali kehidupan dan gaya hidupnya yang nyentrik serta suka merokok. Bisa dibilang kalau ia jadi sasaran empuk pers media. Apalagi kehidupannya  seperti seorang “pemberontak”, pendobrak norma-norma yang ada.

Tapi jauh sebelum itu, beberapa dekade sebelumnya ternyata ada juga seorang Susi yang juga pemberontak. Tapi nama Susi nya memakai huruf  “z” di huruf ketiganya. Ia adalah Suzi Quatro. Tapi ia tidak hidup di Indonesia, ia hidup di Amerika. Suzi yang ini juga seorang pemberontak dan pendobrak di masanya. Ia adalah seorang penyanyi dan pamain bass rock dimasa itu. Dimasa dimana masih jarang ada seorang wanita menyanyi rock.

Walaupun  Suzi Quatro ini adalah seorang rocker, tapi kecantikannya tidak diragukan lagi dan tidak kalah bila dibandingkan dengan artis-artis cewek pada umumnya. Demikian pula dengan Susi Pudjiastuti walaupun usianya hampir setengah abad, tapi kecantikannya juga masih terpancar dari wajahnya.

Tubuh si rocker Suzi ini pun mungil bukannya gagah perkasa seperti rocker pria. Demikian pula dengan Sri Pudjiastuti, walaupun tidak mungil tapi tubuhnya cukup singset. Apalagi waktu beliau memakai kebaya.

Suara kedua wanita ini pun berbeda dan punya kekhasannya sendiri-sendiri. Suzi Quatro walaupun seorang rocker, suaranya tidak berat dan serak. Tapi melengking tinggi. Sebaliknya walaupun Susi Pudjiastuti adalah seorang executive dan bukan seorang rocker, tapi suaranya berat dan serak.

Suzi Quatro dikenal  nyentrik dalam hal berbusana. Karena hampir selalu memakai outfit pullover tertutup dari kulit yang menutup tangan dan kakinya, sehingga sebagian orang menduga kalau tubuhnya tidak mulus dan perlu ditutup dengan pakaian. Walaupun pada akhirnya Suzi membuktikan kalau tubuhnya mulus dengan mamakai pakaian minim.

 

Maka sebaliknya dengan Susi Pudjiastuti, dalam hal berbusana ia  tidak eksentrik tapi malah menunjukkan keanggunannya dengan sering berkain kebaya.  Busana tertutup dan sopan, seolah-olah mau menutupi tubuhnya. Memang  ternyata tubuhnya tidak mulus, tapi bertattoo dikakinya. Dan ia malah menunjukkan tattoo yang ada dikakinya dengan memakai jarik yang tersingkap tinggi.

Kalau Suzi Quatro lebih sering memakai celana panjang, karena memang sesuai dengan bidang musik rock yang digelutinya yang pada umumnya lebih sering digeluti para pria. Maka Susi Pudjiastuti lebih sering memakai kebaya pada acara-acara formal yang dihadirinya. disaat yang bersamaan dimana para executive lebih sering menghindari memakai kebaya.

Kalau dulu Suzi Quatro merupakan satu salah perintis  penyanyi rock wanita dan sekaligus seorang pejuang emansipasi wanita di bidang musik rock, tapi sekalipun begitu tidak ada suara-suara minor  yang mengatakannya sebagai orang gila. Maka Susi Pudjiastuti walaupun bukan seorang menteri wanita yang pertama di Indonesia, tapi sebagian orang mengatakannya sebagai “orang gila” termasuk dirinya sendiri sewaktu ia ditawari untuk menjadi menteri oleh Jokowi. Karena tingkah lakunya yang nyentrik. belum lagi kebiasaannya merokok. Nada-nada sumbang pun terdengar seiring pengangkatannya menjadi menteri. Apalagi latar belakang pendidikannya cuma SMP.

Kalau dulu Suzi Quatro boleh dibilang sebagai revolusi mental untuk seorang wanita sebagai penyanyi rock, maka Susi Pudjiastuti boleh dibilang sebagai hasil revolusi mental dari Jokowi. Begitulah paling tidak pandangan  minor dari pers. Bahkan seorang gembong juru kampanye koalisi KMP yang jadi rival Jokowi sewaktu Pilpres ikut mengatakan kalau perlu ada menteri yang bertattoo.

Tapi diluar semuanya itu seperti halnya Suzi Quatro yang pernah meraih beberapa penghargaan di masanya, Susi Pudjiastuti pun adalah seorang wanita yang berprestasi tinggi khsususnya di bidang bisnis dan pernah meraih berbagai penghargaan di Indonesia. Gebrakannya sangat diharapkan untuk menata kembali kelautan dan perikanan di Indonesia. Semoga bapak presiden kita tidak salah pilih orang untuk diangkat menjadi menteri kelautan dan perikanan. Picture This

New year already arrived ! A special moment that we all wait and expect. Even many of us willing to sacrifice their time just to celebrate this moment. Even we maybe need to book a room with a special view.

It’s reasonable. Because after we already worked almost  throughout the year, now it’s the time for us to celebrate a very special moment. A moment of the coming of the new year.  A year that we still don’t know what will happen inside, but we just hope that the new year is a year with new hopes. Hopes that better than before. A year that we must face with optimistic.

Every people has a different way to celebrate this special moment. Some like to go to public area and watching firecrackers. Some like to go vacation. Some like to go to a quiet place to muse and meditate. Some like to spend the coming of a new year with no special activity. They just do some activities like any other days.

That is what I did this end of year, 31st December 2013. Had to go working, because my office didn’t close. The rain fell throughout that morning and I felt less healthy.  So I just spent that evening at home watching television. I went to bed not so late at night.

But in the middle of that night I woke up, probably by the sound of fireworks explosion. I tried to continue my sleep, but I couldn’t. So I woke and sat on my bed. My bed room has a large window faced the street in front of my house. Through that window I could see the firecrackers. It obviously seen because there’s no high buildings in front my house. So I enjoyed that scenery.

The next morning I just realized that I have a special room with a view. A room that maybe we must order in a hotel  several days or weeks or months in front. Maybe I should be thankful for what I have. A bed room although just a simple bed room and not luxurious, but I can sleep in with comfort.

But one thing that I missed about this, I forgot to take a video of it. So I had proof about this event. I was sorry about this.

Don’t think the texts above is a poem, because it’s a lyric from a song with the title above “Blue nights of Valencia”. It’s my one of favourite songs that I already knew since I was a kid.

Too bad I don’t have that song in any forms of audio records. So I keep searching it on internet for several years. But I can’t find it anyway. Even when I search it on Youtube. I still can’t find it. Until today when this posting I wrote. Finally I find it. It’s in a form of audio. But not on Youtube.

Too bad again when I try to find the lyrics on internet, I can’t find it. So i write this lyrics.

Writing the lyric of a certain song that I like is one of my old hobbies too.  I still remember when I tried to write while the song was playing. It’s difficult for me. First, that time I still began to learn English. And English is not my native language. Secondly, that time  the audio form of a song that is popular is still audio cassette. Not in mp3 or any digital records. When we play it and rewind it over and over, the audio cassette may broken.

Now when I try to write this lyrics, it’s more easier for me. First, I am already  familiar with English. Secondly, I can play it and pause it over and over with out having a risk that the song will be broken. Because it’s in the form of mp3.

Finally, I hope it’s useful especially for those who like this song.

Once I read the lyric from this song, I feel touched. This song was written by Alice Cooper with someone else named Dick Wagner. For you know that Alice Cooper is a rock singer who also known with his horror performance. I don’t know about his life and personality.  But this song seems sympathetic to women.

It is a ballad about a woman in an abusive marriage. A very stereotyped view about a bad husband and a devoted wife. A husband needs a wife only to take his seed in relation to reproduction and continuation of his generation. He spends his nights outside of their home and without his wife or just smoking and getting drunk. Instead of making intimate relationship with his wife, he shows his power and plays rough. While his wife spends her life through pleasing  her husband,  feed him  and has to  live in  pain and lies with her marriage. In biology,  it’s like a relation that called as a parasitic  simbyosis. The one gets profit, but the other gets loss.

It’s a picture that the writer of this song told us. And the writer is an American. A country where  gender equality and women liberation come from. What about in Indonesia ?

These days around  April 21st we are celebrating the birth day of a heroine named RA Kartini. Someone who is famous with her letters “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang”.  She is a heroine who is famous because of  her struggle for her  gender equality.

What about her own marriage ? Happy, although her husband was not her own choice. But it’s her parents’ choice. She had to face the reality between to obey her parents or to marry her own choice, someone she loves. Fortunately, her husband loves her.

What about her struggle ? Nowadays, women are getting appreciated her rights. In career, they can get a job or position where it’s used to be occupied only by a man. From a low job like driver until a high job like a government head even until the president.

But  with the situation like this,  whether such abusive marriage as told in the song is not exist anymore? We can only hope and pray, hopefully the situation  may no longer exists. The rest, maybe we need to educate ourselves.

Just the way you are

What’s on your mind if you read this posting title in relation to a song ? It may depends on your age. If you are  young and  from  MTV generation, you may be  remembered  a song of  Bruno Mars. But if you are born decades before,  you may be remembered a song of Billy Joel.

Yes, both songs are equally entitled “Just the way you are”. And both songs are equally sung by their composers who both play the same musical instrument, piano.

Although both songs equally told about love between 2 humans and told that the couple is perfect in natural way and also about the faithfulness. But both songs don’t  resemble each other. The older song which composed by Billy Joel can be said sounded more ballad, blues and jazzy.  While the newer song which composed by Bruno Mars can be said sounded more cheerful. Maybe it’s more suitable to dance.

So, is it just a coincident ? Or Bruno Mars tailed the popularity of Billy Joel by using the same title of a master hit of Billy Joel ?

Because Billy Joel’s song was  very popular a long time ago earlier before the song of Bruno Mars becomes popular. And not only that, but also sung by the other singers. Beside that, it becomes a must song for  jazz singers like  Diana Krall, Salena Jones and Susan Wong who ever sang it.
